The Langley Trappers have announced Nabeel Moledina as the team’s 2025-2026 Captain with Ian Burns, Ryan Nichol, and Jace Grabinsky as the team’s Alternate Captains.
Nabeel Moledina is in his third season with the Trappers. Before he was traded to the organization, Moledina spent just over a year with the Surrey Knights and the White Rock Whalers. He suffered a foot injury at the onset of the 2023-2024 season forcing a tough decision for the Whalers staff to make. Moledina was traded to the Trappers who, at the time were suffering from an injury riddled beginning to the season. Moledina saw what the organization was about and began to chip away every day at his craft. He soon became one of the hardest working players on the ice and in the gym. He understood the role he needed to play as an 18-year-old in the league, he became an exemplary teammate, and wanted to contribute by any means necessary.
“Moledina is unrecognizable. Both as a young man and a hockey player from the first day he joined the Trappers to now” stated Coach Bakken. “His skill development, skating, awareness, and IQ have all dramatically increased. Moledina has become a true student of the game. He has used his time here to the best of his ability and naming him Captain was an easy choice for the staff this season”.
Ian Burns and Ryan Nichol are both in their second season in the league and with the Trappers. Both Burns and Nichol are community involved players with Burns from Cloverdale and Nichol from Langley. Both play the game with integrity and to the best of their ability. Though, different characters, Burns more of a lead by example player, Nichol more of a Raw Raw emotion on your sleeve player, both possess a hard work ethic and a right foot forward approach to their daily routines as members of the Trappers organization.
Jace Grabinsky is in his third season in the PJHL. He became on of the newest members of the Trappers through an off season trade with the Abbotsford Pilots sending previous Assistant Captain Patrick Coopman and second year defensemen Parker Scott to the Pilots in exchange for Grabinsky. Jace was an Assistant Captain with the Pilots. He is a natural leader. he plays the game hard, has a high IQ and ice awareness. Grabinsky plays the game fast, without fear, and with a welcomed level of intensity the team can feed off of. We are excited to have Grabinsky a part of the team and as a leader for the Trappers this season.
