Award Winners


Award Categories:

O’Grady’s Top Forward of the Year:
Awarded to the best two way forward on the team. The top forward is a player who is responsible in all areas play. He contributes offensively as well as defensively. Has a knack for scoring as well as throwing hits and blocking shots.

Top Defensemen of the Year:
Awarded to the best two way defensemen on the team. The top defensemen usually leads  the defensemen with points. He also is a physical player, well versed in the defensive zone and is known to jump in on the rush offensively.

Rookie of the Year:
Awarded to the top rookie on the team. This award has ranged from goalies to forwards historically. The top rookie is a team player and heavily ingrained in the team mentality as well as success. He is a key player on the team who has worked his way up the roster to become an everyday player as well as a player the coaches has confidence in while on the ice.

Unsung Hero of the Year:
Awarded to the player who does all the little things right. He doesn’t get enough credit for his timely plays, solid hits, aggressive forechecks, face-off wins or second assists. He is a well liked player by his teammates, as well as the coaching staff.

Impact Player of the Year:
Awarded to the player who has major impact(s) on the games played. It could be a big hit levied, multiple face-off wins, timely shot blocks, taking hits to make plays, scoring the coveted game winning goal, or made an unreal momentum swinging saves in big games throughout the season.

Most Improved Player of the Year:
Awarded to the player who demonstrated the largest improvement throughout the season. Skating ability, shooting, pass accuracy, positional play, ice awareness, defensive zone coverage are all aspects looked at when gaging a players improvement.

Volunteer of the Year:
Awarded to the volunteer who shows overwhelming levels of contribution to the team over the season. The Volunteer of the year is a person who doesn’t miss a game and becomes an integral part of the team. He/she goes over and above to help the team with any matter on any given game night or while in the community.

Most Valuable Player of the Year:
Awarded to the player who truly is the most valuable. The MVP is a top point producer, a Power-play specialist, a Penalty kill agent, a physical and mental chess master. He/she comes up with big time plays in big time moments. He/she pays attention to the little details of the game and executes flawlessly. The MVP is a player who pushes the teams capabilities day in and day out.

Wagner Production Award for Most Points:
Named after Nicholas Wagner, Langley Trapper member during the inaugural season of 2017-2018, was the points production winner. The award is named after him to salute him and his teammates who trusted in our organization and laid the foundation for those who came after to prosper from. The Award for most points is awarded to the player who tallies the greatest combined goals and assist totals throughout the course of the regular season.

Guzzo Best Teammate of the Year:
Named after Michael Guzzo, a Langley Trappers member from 2017-2020, who was beloved by all his teammates. The Best Teammate award is an award given to a player who gives more than just hockey talent and ability to the season. The best teammate lights up the room, is able to make others relax, and has a deeper understanding of the team aspect necessary for the team to succeed. The best teammate has to be a well rounded player as well.
