PJHL Teams Announce the Frontier Cup: A New Chapter in the Tom Shaw
Division Rivalry
The Burnaby Steelers, Ridge Meadows Flames, and Langley Trappers are proud to
announce the launch of the Frontier Cup. This new in-division competition will bring added
excitement and intensity to the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) season.
Created collaboratively between the three organizations, the Frontier Cup will serve as a symbol
of competitive spirit, teamwork, and community pride. Regular season games between the
Steelers, Flames, and Trappers will now carry extra meaning as each team battles for the right
to hoist the inaugural Frontier Cup with the team who has the best head-to-head record
receiving the honour of hoisting the trophy at the end of the year.
“All teams worked closely together to ensure the trophy would represent our organizations and
be something our players would be proud to compete for,” said Giancarlo Nadeau, Director
Communications & Marketing for the Burnaby Steelers.
“The Langley Trappers are excited to compete for the Frontier Cup. This in-division competition
magnifies the importance of games throughout the season, not only for playoff seeding but for
pride,” said Brad Bakken, General Manager of the Langley Trappers. “Now our teams and
players have more to play for, with the Frontier Cup turning regular season games into contests
with playoff-level intensity.”
“The Flames organization is thrilled to partner with Langley and Burnaby in creating the Frontier
Cup,” added Derek Bedard, General Manager of the Ridge Meadows Flames. “This new
initiative will strengthen partnerships among our three organizations and help build even greater
rivalries within the highly competitive Tom Shaw Division of the PJHL.”
The Frontier Cup represents a new era of competition within the PJHL’s Tom Shaw Division —
one that celebrates tradition, rivalry, and the shared passion for junior hockey across the Fraser
Valley and Lower Mainland.
