The Trappers have defeated the #1 seeded Sockeyes in the second round and are off to face the Ridge Meadows Flames in the third CHAMPIONSHIP round!!
A hard fought seven game series went down to the wire with the Trappers prevailing by a 3-2 score after a late 3rd period push by the Sockeyes came just short. The Sockeyes took an early 2-0 series lead winning both games at home before the series shifted to Langley. The Trappers battled back winning both games 3 and 4 to tie the series at 2 a piece. Game five went the way of the Sockeyes with a convincing 3-0 win on home ice. The Trappers were not deterred however, winning game 6 by a 4-2 score; 3 of the 4 goals coming in the last two minutes of the third period. Game 7 shifted back to Richmonds Minoru Arena and was played in front of a sold out crowd. The Trappers struck first on the power-play with a goal by Finlay Johnston. Next came a goal from Easton Melanson on the crease edge to make the game 2-0. Richmond scored a power-play marker shortly after off Beaudy Beaudins stick to make the score 2-1. Finlay Johnston took it upon himself with a wrap around goal to give the Trappers another 2 goal lead making the score 3-1. The Trappers played solid defence down the stretch of the third period killing two penalties before giving up a shorthanded goal, once again scored by Beaudy Beaudin to make the score 3-2 with under 3 minutes to go. The Trappers held on to the buzzer to solidify the victory taking the first road win of the series to move onto the finals with a score of 3-2 in game 7 and a 4-3 series final.
The Trappers face second seeded Ridge Meadows Flames in the third and final round in the PJHL Championship. The Flames had a stellar regular season before handling the Poco Trailblazers 4-1 and the Delta Ice Hawks 4-1 in the first and second round of the playoffs respectively. They are a fast paced, well rounded team with a lethal Power-play that will need to be managed for the Trappers to find success.
The Trappers are excited to keep the playoff excitement rolling into the Championship series and hope to see you at the Lodge–George Preston Arena cheering the Trappers on!
