Russell Scores Game 4 Winning Goal!

The Langley Trappers entered game 4 of the Harold Brittain conference Semi Finals down 2-1 but, were carrying momentum after a big game 3 overtime victory shooting down the Jets by a score of 3-2. The Chilliwack Jets won both games 1 and 2 at home and were looking to take a win and the series back to Chilliwack 3-1. Their wishes would not come to fruition as the Trappers evened the series 2-2 with a big game four win at the Lodge by a score of 2-1. It was the Jets who got on the board first with a goal from Marek Brideau at the 16:29 minute mark of the second period with assists from Ryder Vanderkooi, and Jayden Martin. The Trappers responded early in the third period on the Power-play with a goal from Michael Bottrell at 2:14 with the assists from Mason Russell and Justin Sumners. The game seamed destined for overtime for the second straight contest entering the last minute of regulation tied at 1-1. Amar Sidhu saw an opportunity to pounce as he pursued Jayden Martin into the Jets zone. Sidhu picked Martins pocket and took the puck behind the net. Both Jets defensemen and goaltender Brayden Melnyk committed to Sidhu leaving Mason Russell wide open and streaking to the back post. Sidhu made the pass through the defenders and Russell made no mistake finding the twine of the empty net and ultimately winning the game for the Trappers by a score of 2-1 and evening the series at 2 games a piece. Goaltender Maddox Osaka had sensational performance stopping 41 of 42 shots faced in the game.  The series has been fast, hard hitting, and full of excitement as the Trappers and Jets face-off in the second round for the second straight season.
