Todd OT Hero in Game 3

The Pacific Junior Hockey League Harold Brittain Semi Finals playoff series between the Langley Trappers and Chilliwack Jets entered game 3 at the George Preston Recreation Centre in Langley. The Jets entering the tilt with a 2-0 series lead after winning game 1 by a 2-1 score and game 2 with a 6-2 result. The Trappers needed a solid performance from their team to get back into the series and thats exactly what the Trappers achieved. Game 3 took place on February 21st in front of 445 people at the Lodge. Chilliwack got on the board first with a Goal by Captain Mitchell Metcalfe, with the lone assist going to Jameson Flint on the Power-play, 3:58 into the first period. The Trappers responded with a goal from Amar Sidhu, assisted by Austin Todd, and Patrick Coopman 3:01 into the second period. Chilliwack was awarded their 3rd Power-play when the score the go ahead goal 8:00 into the second period by Kaelen Huibers, and assists to Matteo Marini, and Mitchell Mecalfe. The Trappers were undeterred and pressed hard into the third frame feeling the pressure of the season on the line. Justin Sumners was the beneficiary of the Trappers 2nd and tying goal on the Power-play, assisted by Michael Bottrell at the 12:55 mark of the third period. Regular time finished with the game tied at 2. The first 10 minute overtime nearing its end when Sumners got a puck deep at the redline. Captain Bressette entered the zone hard on the forecheck beating the Jets defensemen to the puck. Bressette entered the puck to the slot and connected with Austin Todd who made no mistake one timing the puck with emphasis into a wide open net.

Todd, with the overtime winner at 9:43 of the extra frame put the Trappers of the series board narrowing the gap to 2-1. Assists to Trappers Captain Liam Bressette and to Assistant Captain Justin Sumners.

Game 4 of the series is to be played on Friday February 23rd also at the Lodge–George Preston Arena.
